Ghorepani Ghandruk Trekking is definitely a swift escapade for few days around picturesque village to capture glimpse of rich culture and beautiful sub-tropical alpine Rhododendron forest track aiming for one of earth finest vantage – Poon Hill – to observe stunning sunrise & sunset and panorama of world seventh, eighth & tenth highest – Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Manaslu (8163m) and Mt. Annapurna (8091m) respectively.
Ghorepani Trekking is excellent chance to encounter local people and splendid nature in less than a week holiday window. And it is pleasant to walk on trails with mountain backdrop through the beautiful village and the tempting landscapes – so elegant, that it will knock to the photographer side of you. You just could not resist yourself immersing into it.
This short trek to Ghorepani Ghandruk starts with an hour drive from the City of Lake – Pokhara following Beni-Baglung highway until Nayapul from where we begin our walk to Birethanti and continue to Hille passing through picturesque green farmlands, ever flowing waterfalls and the fresh scent of rhododendron forest (if it’s March-May Spring season).
Next morning it’s little challenge to walk approx. three thousand stone stairs to reach Ulleri village but the effort is rewarding with a view of peak shaped like tail of fish – Mt. Machhapuchere (6997m) on every footstep and we continue our walk through the green lush forest towards Ghorepani which itself is a local Pun village serving great hospitality and mountain views.
The major attraction of Ghorepani Trek is a forty-five-minute sunrise hike to Poon Hill (3210m) from Ghorepani to witness the breathtaking panorama of more than twenty different peaks (of course if weather permits) and the sight of rising sun atop of this Himalayan range will leave you speechless.
We will hang around for a while capture all these memories in camera before we approach towards beautiful Ghandruk village where we will visit Traditional Gurung Museum and spend our last night watching Mt. Fishtail and Annapurna South from room window and complete our short journey of Himalayas.

We found about Milan through reading Trip Advisor reviews. He set us up for a 5 day trekking trip at Poon Hill. As well as down jacket and sleeping bag rentals. The price he gave us is fair and to the point. Our guide was Arjun. He is very experienced, fast, knows the people, the tea houses, and the various routes very well. He helped out a few travelers who didn't know where they were going. The places he choose for us to stay usually have hot water and extra blankets. Have a drink with this guy if he's your guide!
