RABC — Round Annapurna Base Camp — a complete Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp Trek — is truly a three-week adventurous window to explore the magnificence of Annapurna Conservation Area comprising some of the best sights of the mighty Himalayas and cultural jewels of Nepal passing through various climatic and ethical zone. The major attraction of this trek is to encircle Annapurna massif and witness their different shapes from various direction, sometimes far from viewpoints like Poon Hill or closer view from Manang or Annapurna Base Camp while the adventure of crossing world biggest Thorong La pass (5416m / 17769 ft.) is something unexplainable.
There is no doubt that Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp trekking supply an excellent opportunity to experience the rich natural and cultural treasures providing ample scenario of stunning high mountains, beautiful villages of several ethnic groups, picturesque green farmlands to arid barren terrain, numerous viewpoints, ever-flowing waterfalls, old ancient Buddhist monasteries and reflection of archaic lifestyle of people while putting an ultimate thrill of adventure on your feet.
Trekking to Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule and then continues walking through small village and settlements amid green lush vegetation enjoying the sound of roaring rivers and spilling waterfalls towards Manang valley. There will be a noticeable change in the vegetation and landscapes on reaching Manang as it gets more treeless barren under a blue sky. We will visit glaciers and Chongkor viewpoint for acclimatization in Manang and then get ready for challenging Thorong La Pass to explore the Lower Mustang – destination to several old Buddhist monasteries, mesmerizing view of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Nilgiri, beautiful Kagbeni village and Holy Muktinath temple.
We will take a short uneven bus/jeep drive at Mustang road and get off at Tatopani to relax our ached muscles at natural hot-spring before the hike to connect with Annapurna Base Camp trekking route at Ghorepani. We start early morning hike to Poon Hill to capture one of the best sunrise and spectacular view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu range from 3210m and then descend to continue towards the Annapurna Sanctuary.
After Mustang barren view, we will restate the green lush rhododendron forest walk passing beautiful sunset point & Gurung village until we again reach treeless landscapes from Deurali till Annapurna Base Camp. Just imagine the trails of Annapurna circuit on the other side of these giant Gangapurna and Annapurna massif and sunset view are just amazing. We are again up early to catch the sunrise and the glittering golden colors atop Mt. Annapurna (8091m) and surrounding peak leave you speechless, again. We retrace our path all the way to Choomrong village and enjoy one more natural Jhinu hot-spring before driving to Pokhara.
